The Gainesville Newcomers Club has a membership of over 500 women, many who are new to the Gainesville area and eager to make new friends. We also have a wide variety of Interest Groups - check out the list below! You can also start up your own interest group as well - so many options to meet other women in the area!

Afternoon Tea Mystery Book Club Antiques Explorers This group meets monthly and is on the hunt for treasures visiting shops in Gainesville and in towns in the surrounding area. Starting out in the morning, there is a stop for lunch before afternoon shopping and a return home mid-afternoon. Body Works A full body workout that hits all of the major muscles. Set to music, this light weight, high repetition class will work on increasing your strength, muscle tone, balance, posture, and bone density. Books & Bites (Evening Book Group) Have a taste for a really good book or like to sink your teeth into and lose yourself in a juicy novel? Join us - we will dig into a different book (selected with input from group members) from a variety of genres each month. To spice things up a bit, we will also complement our book talks with beverages and aperitifs fitting to the theme of each book, either at a participant’s home or local eatery. Borrower’s Boutique You can borrow items for your grandchildren's visit (i.e. Pac N Play, highchair, stroller, etc.) and also items for rehabilitation (i.e. wheelchair, cane, walker, shower chair, commode, etc.) for visiting elderly or for your own recuperation. Bridge- Ladies This group meets to play bridge on a month basis. Bunco If you can roll dice and laugh, then you can play Bunco. We change partners with every game, so there is a great opportunity to meet people. Afterwards some of us go out to lunch. Come "Roll" with us! Casual Dining In Casual Dining In is a seasonal interest group for you and an adult dining partner. During the months of January through April groups of eight people have brunch, lunch, or dinner in a member’s home. Each month you dine with a different group of people. Each member hosts one month and is a guest the other months. The host provides the main course and drinks, and the other guests bring sides. The season ends with “An End of Season Party” in May that is catered and paid for by all the season’s participants. Christmas on Green Street Historic CHRISTMAS ON GREEN STREET is a one-night event held each year on the first Sunday in December. Sponsored by Main Street Gainesville/City of Gainesville this celebration has become a 20-year tradition with Newcomers. Members dress in Edwardian outfits and walk together in the annual Christmas parade. This is an event in which family and friends are welcome to participate with us. Historical outfits have been made and are available for rent. Crafty Queens Crafty queens will focus primarily on paper crafting (scrapbooking and card making) but hopes to teach and showcase a new skill every few months (ex: quilling, calligraphy, art journaling, stamping techniques, bow making, genealogy documentation, etc.). Join us and indulge your inner "crafty queen"! Dominoes/Mexican Train Jump on the train - the Mexican Train Dominoes game! Mexican Train is a domino game where players connect chains of dominoes, called "trains," by matching numbered ends. The goal is to be the first player to empty their hand, minimizing their points for the round. Gardening The gardening group visits area nurseries, potteries, public gardens, flower shows, and each other’s gardens. Golf Club Enjoy an 18-hole afternoon round! Our goal is to provide a fun and welcoming environment where we can connect with other ladies, learn from each other, and have a great time! Tee time starts at 12 Noon, limit of 16 players, RSVP needed by 10 days prior to event, and fees to be determined. | Hiking Holistic Health and Wellness Ladies Hand and Foot Canasta Ladies Night Out Our activities vary but are mostly fun, high energy gatherings for ladies who like a little adventure. Expect anything from craft nights to murder mystery parties, or from relaxed dinner out to escape rooms and scavenger hunts. Lunch Bunch Get to know fellow members and sample the fare at area restaurants. Mahjong Mahjong is a game of skill coupled with wit and fortune. It originated in China and dates back 2000 years. It is said that Mah-Jongg was the imperial clan game in ancient China. Please contact us if you want to learn to play - we are always open to helping people learn this fun game. Morning Coffee Visit with friends and make new friends! Morning Coffee is a great opportunity to get to know other members. Bring your beverage of choice or purchase coffee and food. Join us for lively conversation and a great start to your day. Pickleball Learn to play pickleball! Join us for our learn to play clinic events and rotate in for fun recreational play! Stay for a picnic lunch afterwards. We will alternate mornings and afternoons based on weather and availability. You will need a paddle, outdoor balls and safe shoes. We hope to coordinate Pickleball Pods based on where you live and some round robin fun events to play between our larger group gatherings. What can you serve but not eat? A pickleball. Let's get pickley! Pinochle Pinochle is a trick-taking and melding card game, typically played with four players in two partnerships. This Group meets almost every week in members’ homes, breaks for lunch and continues play. New players are welcome, and we're happy to teach the game!
Samba Cards Samba is a fun and challenging card game which is a variant of canasta. Sharing Sunday Afternoons Do you like to socialize and meet new people? Do you enjoy eating scrumptious food and having fun? If you answered yes, then Sharing Sunday Afternoon is for you! Bring yourself, a guest or your spouse and a delicious plentiful appetizer, hors d’oeuvres or dessert for 20 people. We would love to meet you and for you to join our group! Singles ~ Meet & Eat For Single Ladies who enjoy dining out and sharing some laughs and a good time! We usually meet for early dinner, but occasionally for lunch. Come join us as we seek to discover excellent and fun eateries! Theater If you enjoy live theater, this is the group for you. We try to plan shows for Sunday afternoon and attend plays at different venues throughout Georgia. Enjoying dinner together at a local restaurant afterward is always an option, but not required. Spouses, partners and guests are always welcome to attend. Hope you can join us. See you at the show! Warm Up America This group knits and crochets afghans for the Red Cross, baby items for Newborns in Need, and scarves and hats for the homeless in Gainesville.
